Donald Trump - Platform
(continued from
Donald Trump Christian?)
Has President Donald Trump kept his word, and what is his platform?
Abortion
Donald Trump supported abortion until about 20 years ago and continues to claim that even late-term
abortion should be allowed in cases of rape
or incest (see
Abortion is Murder). As president, however, Donald Trump has worked to defund
Planned Parenthood, addressed the Right to Life March, and appoint pro-life judges, including to the
U.S. Supreme Court.
Homosexual "Marriage"
In 2011, Donald Trump switched from not opposing homosexual marriage to opposing it. After the 2015
U.S.
Supreme Court's
Obergefell v. Hodges
ruling in favor of homosexual marriage, he switched again and said homosexual marriage
should be respected as the law of the land. President Donald Trump has yet to switch back and obey the
Bible Verses Against Homosexuality.
Immigration
President Trump has built 300 miles of the wall on our southern border to date
and has committed to building 450 miles before re-election, after which
he is likely to complete the entire wall, and focus on deporting all illegal immigrants,
ending chain immigration, especially from Muslim nations (see
Islam: what the West needs to know), and instituting a merit-based
immigration policy.
Healthcare
President Trump opposes universal healthcare coverage but is expected to
continue to try to drive down healthcare costs by pressuring insurance companies
into interstate competition, international drug makers to stop price gouging in
America, and hospitals to make their prices transparent (see
President Trump and Coronavirus).
Economy
In his second term, President Trump is expected to continue to negotiate
bilateral trade deals, pressure manufacturing supply chains to move back to
America, upgrade our nation's infrastructure, give
another tax cut to the middle class, and start to address our national debt of $27,000,000,000,000, which works out
to be over $215,000 for every American taxpayer (see
America in Decline).
China
China is by far the world's largest producer and consumer of pork. When a swine
fever killed half of China's pigs and doubled their prices in 2019, President
Trump leveraged it to lock in a "Phase 1" trade deal with China that in turn
should lock in support for him in key 2020 rural swing states. President
Trump recognizes that America is locked in an existential technology arms race
against China. After re-election, he is likely to take off his gloves and apply
maximum pressure on China to win this race, and also seek reparations from China
for causing the Coronavirus pandemic (see
Who Caused COVID-19).
Iran
President Trump does not want a war with Iran but also will not allow Iran to become
nuclear armed. He has tolerated Iran attacking assets (e.g., our military drone
and Saudi Arabia's oil refinery) but counter-attacked decisively when an American
was killed. If Iran tries to become nuclear armed during President
Trump's second term, he is likely to attack it militarily with everything except
boots on the ground and nuclear bombs.
North Korea
For North Korea's Kim Jong Un to sit on his threats to resume
missile tests, President Trump's recent letter to him is likely to have
offered something that Kim Jong Un can look forward to if he lies low until the
re-election of President Trump, who appears resigned to the fact that North Korea is already a nuclear power
and cannot be attacked militarily without risking catastrophic retaliation. After re-election,
President Trump is likely to sign a peace treaty with and lift economic sanctions on North Korea in exchange
for U.N. inspector-verified freeze of its nuclear arms production, testing, and export.
Afghanistan
President Trump is likely to end the war in Afghanistan, bring our
troops home, and leave Afghanistan to the Taliban.
