Is President Donald Trump A Christian? Is He Really Born-Again?

Many Christian surrogates have volunteered that President Donald Trump is a born-again Christian, but what has President Trump himself said that can address this question?

While speaking about the mistreatment of Christians during an interview in Iowa, Donald Trump, not yet a candidate, used the third person plural pronoun to refer to Christians:

"Believe me, if I run and I win, I will be the greatest representative of the Christians they've had in a long time." - Donald Trump, May 20, 2015

Has Donald Trump repented of his sins?

In 2015, when asked at a conservative forum if he had ever asked God for forgiveness, Donald Trump, by then a declared candidate for the presidency, initially tried to dodge the question. When the question was repeated, he struggled with words while conceding:

"I am not sure I have. I just go on and try and do a better job from there. I don't think so. I think if I do something wrong, I think I just try and make it right. I don't bring God into that picture. I don't. Now, when we go in church and I drink my little wine - which is about the only wine I drink - and have my little cracker, I guess that is a form of asking for forgiveness, and I do that as often as possible because I feel cleansed, ok? But you know, to me that's important. I do that, but in terms of officially, I should, you see, I could say, 'Absolutely,' and everybody, I don't think in terms of that. So, is President Donald Trump a born-again Christian?

A "Christian" who isn't sure he has asked God for forgiveness isn't born-again.

What should Christians do for President Trump?

Pray for God to convert him. It would be electrifying to watch the president of the United States declare his salvation from the Oval Office, and Donald Trump is someone who would make that declaration to the entire world.

But has Donald Trump kept his word that "If I run and I win, I will be the greatest representative of the Christians they've had in a long time"?
