Bill Richardson was an obscure New Mexico Congressman when his political
skills caught the attention of President Bill Clinton, who put him on the
international, then national stage by appointing him the U.S. Ambassador to the
United Nations in 1997,
and Energy Secretary in 1998, respectively.
In 2008,
Bill Richardson proved his political instincts once again and expressed his gratitude
to Bill Clinton by snubbing Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Presidential
nomination, instead endorsing Barack Obama, who upon victory tried to reward Bill
Richardson with the Commerce Secretary post until a grand jury investigation led
Richardson to withdraw his name.
An active Roman Catholic, Bil
l Richardson adheres to the un-
evangelical
teachings of Roman
Catholicism except on
abortion and
homosexual marriage; he is pro-abortion and pro-gay
civil unions. He also supports embryonic stem cell research.
The
resume of Bill Richardson, currently the Governor of New Mexico, attests to his
deep and broad political experience but his un-
Christian and
anti-
conservative
social
values platform
should be kept out of the Oval Office, should he ever decided to run again for
it.
Our rating of his candidacy for the Presidency of the United States remains a
D+.
