Bernie Sanders - Beliefs
(continued from
Bernie Sanders'
Religion)
What
are Bernie Sanders' beliefs about God?
Bernie Sanders' God isn't a being, let alone the triune
God of the
Bible, but a connection:
"I think everyone believes in God in their own way.
To me, it means that all of us are connected, all of life is connected, and that
we are all tied together." - Bernie Sanders, The
Washington Post, January 27, 2016.
What are his beliefs about Christians who believe in the God of the Bible?
When a Wheaton College professor claimed
Muslims and Christians
worship the same God and that Muslims are her brothers and sisters in 2016, an alumnus
named Russell Vought replied,
"Muslims do not simply have a
deficient theology. They do not know God because they have rejected Jesus Christ
His Son, and they stand condemned."
When Vought came before the U.S. Senate to be confirmed as President Trump’s
Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget in 2017, Bernie Sanders quoted his
words above and then condemned them in his opening statement, saying:
"In my view, the statement made by Mr. Vought is
indefensible, it is hateful, it is Islamophobic, and it is an insult to over a
billion Muslims throughout the world."
A Christian saying the
hell-bound need
Jesus is like a ranger saying rattlesnake bite victims need antidote; it is loving, not
"hateful," to tell people what they need to
get saved not only from death but from eternity in the fire of hell (see
Justice of God).
When Bernie Sanders asked Vought,
"Do you believe
that statement is Islamophobic?" Vought replied,
"Absolutely not, Senator. I’m a
Christian, and I believe in a Christian set of
principles based on my faith..."
Bernie Sanders, who presidential campaign manager is a
Muslim named Faiz Shakir, yelled at Vought,
"I understand you are a
Christian!" and eventually turned to Mike Enzi, the chairman
of the U.S. Senate Budget Committee, to conclude:
"I would simply say, Mr. Chairman, that this nominee
is really not someone who this country is supposed to be about."
Christians who believe in
Jesus have no place in
Bernie Sander's America.
