John McCain - Platform

(continued
from
John McCain Beliefs)
With respect to the John McCain platform, whether or not you agree with it, the one thing that can be said about
it is that it is
John McCain's platform, and
not the creation of political expediency.
A case in point is the war in Iraq. There was a time when the other Presidential candidates with the exception of
Duncan Hunter couldn't
distance themselves far enough from the war.
At the time, John McCain unequivocally declared that winning the
war in Iraq was
imperative to our national interest and would be a key element of the McCain platform. Highly unpopular,
this element of his platform almost sank John McCain's candidacy early on.
