Rick Santorum - Beliefs
(continued
from
Rick Santorum Catholic)
So what exactly are Rick Santorum's beliefs?
Sometimes, insights into a person's beliefs can be gained from what he says
about others' beliefs. Recently, Rick Santorum declared about President Barack
Obama:
"If the president says he’s a Christian, he’s a Christian."
(Rick Santorum, February 18, 2012)
But in 2008, Rick Santorum expressed somewhat different beliefs about the then presidential
candidate Barack Obama's religious beliefs:
"Barack Obama was asked, "What is sin?" His answer
[was], "Being out of alignment with my values." So now, we have the truly first post-modern
presidential candidate clearly, explicitly defining his own reality."
(Rick Santorum, August 2008, Ave Maria University)
Post-modernism, which is man-centered, and Christianity, which is
Christ-centered, are fundamentally contradictory sets of beliefs. President Obama cannot be both
"Christian" and
"post-modern",
so one of the two statements above is false.
During a January 2012 radio interview, a caller suggested to Rick Santorum that the
presidential race did not need a "Jesus candidate," to which Rick Santorum
replied:
"We always need a Jesus candidate. I don't mean
necessarily that we always need a Christian, but we need someone who believes in
something more than themselves." (Rick Santorum,
January 5, 2012)
A
"Jesus candidate"
would be a born-again Christian whose lord is Jesus Christ, not simply
"someone who believes in something more than themselves," which
would include Muslim
Jihadists, Mormons
and even
Satanists.
Speaking of Jihadists, in a 2007 article penned after
Mitt Romney's speech on
the
Mormon cult, Rick Santorum stated:
"I'm more concerned about losing our children to
jihadis or a materialistic culture than losing them to Mormonism." (Rick
Santorum, The Philadelphia Inquirer, December 20, 2007)
Christian children martyred by
"jihadis"
go to heaven, while children who die as Mormons go to hell (see
Mormon cult). Jesus said:
"And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those
who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will show
you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast
into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!" - Luke 12:4-5
