To see if abortion should be allowed in case of incest or rape, imagine that after a brutal
attack and rape by a relative, a woman ended up in a coma and became pregnant from the ordeal.
Imagine also that she remained in her coma for several years, during which time the baby growing in her reached
full term and was delivered by caesarean section.
When the woman eventually wakes up from her coma, learns that the child near her is hers
from the incestuous rape and requests the child to be killed, would you kill that child?
If you won't kill that child, why would you kill that child
when s/he is inside the womb (see
Incest and rape are heinous and despicable crimes for which the
perpetrator deserves the full punishment under the law. But the child in this
case is another victim of the crime, not its perpetrator.
Justice for a crime requires the punishment of the guilty party, not the
