Newt Gingrich - Christian
(continued
from
Newt Gingrich wife)
To conclude, had Newt Gingrich been a Christian at his baptism
(see
Newt Gingrich religion) at St. Charles Baptist Church in
the late 1960s, he would not have converted to Roman Catholicism in 2009, for Jesus said:
"My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow
Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall
anyone snatch them out of My hand." (John 10:27-28)
While Newt Gingrich may sincerely believe he is Christian, his earlier words (see
Newt Gingrich wife) offer no
sign of repentance or of being born again, and he now believes a man to be his
"Holy Father." Someone as intelligent
as Newt Gingrich believing that he is Christian without actually
being one re-affirms the fact that faith is a gift from God:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that
not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should
boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)
Newt Gingrich knows Washington, excels in the game of politics and has the
experience, knowledge and intellect to be a formidable foe when seated across
from Barack Obama, Vladimir Putin or the next President of China.
Newt Gingrich is a calculating Machiavellian whom the voters ultimately should trust as much as
his first, second or the current
wife
should trust, and he ultimately will fail to resolve the problems facing
America (see
America
In Decline).
Newt Gingrich is not the Christian President that America needs to elect, but in a candidate field which unlike
its 2008 counterpart, is devoid of a Christian who demonstrates reliance on Christ (see
Presidential
Candidates), he will still be a better choice for President than
Mitt Romney
(see
Mormon president).
Our rating of Newt Gingrich's presidential candidacy is a reluctant
C+.
