Herman Cain - Christian?

(continued
from
Herman Cain Platform)
GodVoter.org has asked
Pastor Herman
Cain, who identified himself as a
"Baptist pastor,"
to share his Christian testimony in response to our
questions
for presidential candidates.
On October 12, 2011, our invitation for his
Christian testimony was forwarded to Karleen Smith, Herman Cain's personal
assistant, by Mark Block, the Chief of Staff of Herman Cain's campaign.
Since then, our reminder for this pastor to kindly testify about the Lord who saved him from level
4 colorectal cancer and is sovereign over election results has gone unanswered.
Herman Cain is a charismatic speaker with an uncanny
ability to answer questions with many words that sound eloquent but betray his
key weakness: lack of depth and substance. He knows very little about foreign
policy and even the centerpiece of his cure for our economy - his 999-plan (see
Herman Cain platform) - is disappointingly
simplistic, especially given his tenure as the chairman of the Federal Reserve
Bank of Kansas.
Herman Cain's few and sometimes conflicting words about his
faith,
beliefs,
platform and
religion raise
more questions than they answer, including about the strength of his convictions against
abortion and homosexual 'marriage'.
Our next President must be someone who courageously and resolutely trusts Jesus and relies on
Him to deliver our nation from the present crisis (see
Christian President),
and a "Christian" candidate
who trusts in political operatives and
strategies more than the Bible is unlikely to operate differently as President.
Given this pastor's potential to fail as President by operating as above and end
up blemishing the name of the Lord on whom he claims to rely, our present
C- rating of his presidential candidacy is arguably
generous.
UPDATE: On November 29, 2011,
GodVoter.org
lowered our rating of Herman Cain's candidacy
from
C- to
D- and
called for his withdrawal from the race (see
Pastor).
