What does the Bible really say about heaven and hell?

Many Bible verses record Jesus speaking about heaven and hell, and the consequence of ignoring these Bible verses about heaven and hell is eternity in the latter. Consider these Bible verses about heaven:

"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven..." (Matthew 5:11-12)

"Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 18:3-4)

"One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven..." (Mark 10:21)

And consider these Bible verses from about hell, bearing in mind that Jesus taught about hell more than anyone else recorded in the Bible:

"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands, to go to hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched." (Mark 9:43)

"... And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire." (Matthew 5:22).

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28)

Contrary to the efforts by some to deny or obfuscate the existence of heaven and hell, the Bible clearly teaches about both and adds that compared to eternity either of them, our life on earth is "but vapor":

"Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, And my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor." (Psalm 39:5)

"...For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." (James 4:14)
