Rudy Giuliani - Rating
Profile
Rating |
Status: Mayor Rudy Giuliani has withdrawn from the 2008 Presidential
race.
Born and raised in New York to Italian-Catholic heritage, Rudy Giuliani served
as the United States Attorney for New York for
7 years and the Mayor of New York City for 8
years. His candidacy for President is defined by the prominent mayoral role he played
in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
Rudy Giuliani successfully fought crime in New York as both United States
Attorney in the 1980s and as Mayor in the 1990s. He was widely praised for his
handling of the 9/11 attacks' aftermath and as a result enjoyed high early name recognition
and rating with
voters among the Republican Presidential candidates.
On the other hand, Rudy Giuliani is a thrice-married
Roman Catholic who has no
foreign policy experience and is weak on
social values issues. A Democrat until the
1970s, he supports such un
biblical
issues
abortion rights and
homosexual marriage, to the extent of having marched in gay pride
parades.
