Questions
26. If elected, the ban on what type of guns, if any, would you support, and why?
The prohibition of gun control stems from our Constitution, not the Bible, and
therefore carries neither the authority of the Bible nor the timeless application
of the Bible.
As societies change, so do the applicability of man-made laws. The
Constitutional prohibition
of gun control - the right
to bear firearms - was intended for a society with neither a standing army
nor police force and whose citizens needed guns to hunt for food and to
deter invasions.
Today, America has a standing army, layers of police force and few if
any of its citizens have to hunt with guns for subsistence. Yet, thanks
to a biblical adherence to a 230-year old, man-made law, ours country is now flooded with more guns than adults,
the police often feel out-gun
ned, and school children are gun
ned down at random.
Today's anti-gun control laws have more to do with the power and the politicians'
fear of the anti-gun control lobby than with logic, the intent of the Constitutional
right to bear arms or the
Bible.
