Questions - Bible Gun Control
26. If elected, the ban on what type of guns, if any, would you support, and why?
The prohibition of gun control stems from the Second Amendment to our Constitution, not the Bible,
which states otherwise.
Therefore, the prohibition of gun control carries neither the authority of the Bible nor the timeless application
of the Bible.
As societies change, so do the applicability of man-made laws. The
Constitutional prohibition
of gun control - the right
to bear firearms - was intended for a society with neither a standing army
nor police force and whose citizens needed gun
s to hunt for food and to
deter invasion.
Today, America has a standing army, layers of police force and few if
any of its citizens have to hunt with guns for subsistence. Yet, thanks
to a biblical adherence to a 230-year old, man-made law, our country is now flooded with more guns than adults,
who can own assault machine guns that even the police don't carry.
Today's gu
n laws have more to do with the power and the politicians'
fear of the gu
n lobby and the adherence of its members to a
sport than with logic, the intent of the Constitutional right to bear arms or the
Bible.
