Imagine you're the CEO of a company and learn that one of your employees drank
on the job, taser-gunned an 11-year old child who is his own stepson, shot a
real gun illegally and killed an animal, threatened to kill people, and has dozens
of other violations dating back to 2001.
Would you keep this man in your company?
Now add in the detail that this man is carrying guns that your company issued to
him.
The trooper in question being Governor Sarah Palin
's former brother-in-law misses the point.
Governor Palin would have been remiss in her duties as the CEO of Alaska's
government if she hadn't tried to fire this state trooper and take away his
government-issued guns.
By law, the trooper apparently needed to be fired by the state's Public Safety
Commissioner, who reports to Governor Palin. She gave him over a year to do his
job. When it became apparent that the "Public Safety" Commissioner was
jeopardizing the public's safety by coddling a derelict cop, Governor Palin
fired the Public Safety Commissioner, and rightfully so.
The fired Public Safety Commissioner isn't alleging any wrongdoing. Neither is
the trooper in question, who readily admits his wrongdoing and is apologetic.
The one alleging wrongdoing is a man who lost to Sarah Palin in the 2006
gubernatorial race, and now part of a smear campaign.
There is no "-gate" here, and if this is the "dirt" on
Sarah
Palin, it's pretty clean.
