(
previous page...) response to a reporter's question
after Jeffress endorsed Rick Perry, Governor Rick Perry publicly disagreed with Jeffress' beliefs and declared that according
to his beliefs, Mormonism is not a cult.
Mormonism actually is a cult (
evidences).
Robert Jeffress' beliefs were right and Rick Perry
's beliefs were wrong.
Did Rick Perry truly not
know that Mormonism is a cult and continue to not know, or did the presidential
candidate Rick Perry knowingly side with
Christ-blaspheming
cult for the sake of political convenience?
Let us assume it is the former. But what Ric
k Perr
y did next at the GOP presidential debate in Nevada
on October 18, 2011 is intriguing.
Asked by a CNN anchor to address the statements
"Pastor"
Jeffress made
about Mitt Romney's Mormonism, Ric
k Per
ry repeatedly
referred to Jeffress as,
"that individual".
Robert Jeffress is an individual but repeatedly referring to him as,
"that individual" in that situation was a slight verging on insult
aimed at distancing himself from a politically inconvenient
comment made by a pastor and a loyal friend who had gone out of his way to
strongly endorse him.
Only when
Mitt Romney respectfully and graciously referred to Jeffress, who had identified his
Mormonism as a cult, as
"Reverend Jeffress", did Ri
ck
Perr
y follow Romney's lead and switch to referring to Robert Jeffress
as,
"Pastor Jeffress"
(
watch the exchange).
Is this the kind of courage and leadership we desire from our next
Christian President (
