We turn now to Michele Bachmann and religion, including Michele Bachmann
's own
religion, as well as Michele Bachmann
's stance on others' religion
s.
Raised a Lutheran, Michele Bachmann
attended Salem Lutheran Church in her hometown of Stillwater, Minnesota from the
1990s until 2009. Today, Michele Bachmann attends Eagle Brook Church, a non-denominational mega-church located in Centerville,
about 15 miles from her hometown.
Unlike
some of the
other candidates, who
have a propensity to mention their religion primarily during election campaigns, Michele Bachmann has been living out her Christian faith
steadily since
her conversion at 16 years of age.
For example, she has ministered outside
abortion clinics, dissuading women from
murdering their
unborn children, and participated in protests against government funding for
hospitals that
perform
abortions.
She and her husband founded, own and operate a Christian counseling center. Over
a period of 6 years, the Bachmanns also took in to their home and cared for 23 at-risk teenaged girls as
foster children alongside their five biological children.
When the state of Minnesota forbade their foster children from being placed in
Christian schools,
she led a grassroots initiative to found a K-12 charter school
in her hometown that taught the
Christian worldview.
And when her state law forced her to resign from the board of that charter school
and remove Christian content from its curriculum
to maintain its charter, she
entered politics to change the laws. (
